If you like to cook you probably go into your kitchen with the idea that you are going to produce a very delicious meal that everyone will like. But did you realise that every time you enter the kitchen you are doing applied science?

Science is full of theories and formulas. Did you know that you use lots of theories and formulas in the kitchen? Did you know that every recipe is a formula? Let’s take a look at science in your kitchen:

Once Upon A Time, There Was No Life

I think everyone would agree that before they were thought of in anyone’s philosophy, the Universe existed. You’d agree that the Universe existed before humans existed, unless you’re one of those fundamentalists who interpret the Book of Genesis literally, and even then there were a few days for the Universe to enjoy a pre-human existence. If you’re not one of those extreme right wing all-things-literal Christians, then you’d go along with the Universe existing before life, any kind of life, arose on Terra Firma (or anywhere else in the cosmos for that matter). How To Get An Above Average Grade In Organic Chemistry By Working With a Study Group

How To Get An Above Average Grade In Organic Chemistry By Working With a Study Group

Organic chemistry is not your average science course. And so your approach to learning and mastering this information must also be above average. While organic chemistry scores tend to be lower than any other science, by reading this article you will learn how to get an above average grade in organic chemistry by working with a study group.

Organic chemistry is a course that can only be mastered by gaining a deep understanding of concepts and developing a proper approach to working through reactions and mechanisms.

Setting up a consistent study schedule should be your primary goal, however it may not be enough.

When you study alone you are limited to the information that you are able to master by yourself. Continue reading How To Get An Above Average Grade In Organic Chemistry By Working With a Study Group

Chris Hadfield Sings Space Oddity From The International Space Station

Chris Hadfield Sings Space Oddity From The International Space Station

As Canadian astronaut, and commander of the International Space Station, Chris Hadfield released this video singing David Bowie’s iconic “Space Oddity” prior to his departure from the station today.

I’ll admit, I’ve never really been a big David Bowie fan. His music was a little too “out there” for me.

Chris Hadfield Singing Space Oddity Gives It New Appeal

Had this been the video for the Bowie song back in the 80′s when I was watching Video Hits, I may have been a bigger fan.

It’s pretty cool seeing a real astronaut, singing a song about space while he’s actually floating around in a space station looking down on our little blue planet don’t you think?

Chris Is An International (Internet) Star

As the first Canadian to lead the International Space Station, Chris Hadfield has become quite an internet star since arriving in December.

He currently has over 800,000 Twitter followers, and he has a number of videos on YouTube with millions of views all told.

I read recently in our local paper how he even interacted with the local students on a school project.

Technology has certainly come a long way.

I can remember our teacher wheeling in the big cart with a TV on it so we could watch a space shuttle launch, but that doesn’t quite compare to talking in real time to Chris Hadfield while he’s floating in orbit in the International Space Station.

My son recently told me he’d like to go on a rocket into space, and with the progress being made in the last few years maybe we’ll be able to make that dream a reality for him.

I’d love to experience weightlessness, and it would be very cool to take a tour of the ISS guided by Chris Hadfield or one of the other astronauts.

It’s pretty obvious to me that Chris is a guy that’s following his passions and dreams and living life on his terms.

It’s people like him that inspire me to do the same. Continue reading Chris Hadfield Sings Space Oddity From The International Space Station
